With an easy-fitting arm cuff, this blood pressure monitor is very easy to use. Wrap the cuff around the upper arm, following the printed guides for correct placement. With the touch of a button, the lightweight desktop monitor simultaneously displays blood pressure (systolic pressure being the top number and diastolic pressure being the bottom number) along with pulse rate. This unit uses 'Enhanced IntelliSense Technology' to automatically applies the right amount of pressure for fast, accurate and more comfortable measurements. It also features an irregular heartbeat detection, to alert if systolic or diastolic pressure is outside the standard range, plus a hypertension indicator and body movement detection. Includes a 30 memory storage capacity, allowing you to keep a record of the last 30 readings (including time and date) for comparison. This model also features Bluetooth connectivity for convenient tracking of your readings.
This blood pressure monitor uses 4 x AA batteries (included at time of purchase). Alternatively, an AC Power Adapter is also available as an optional accessory, allow the unit to be plugged into mains power. The oscillometric principle works by sensing the strength of oscillations caused by the blood as it begins to flow again into the limb. When your heart beats, it contracts and pushes blood through the arteries to the rest of your body. This force creates pressure on the arteries. This is called systolic blood pressure. A normal systolic blood pressure is 120 or below. A systolic blood pressure of 120-139 means you have normal blood pressure that is higher than ideal. The diastolic blood pressure number or the bottom number indicates the pressure in the arteries when the heart rests between beats. A normal diastolic blood pressure number is 80 or less. A diastolic blood pressure between 80 and 89 is normal but higher than ideal.
